Intro to real life

After you hear that cliche speech in mid may that ends with something like: “today is the first day of the rest of your life”;  After the president of your university, the guest speaker and a host of other people finish giving their speeches;  you have this great feeling that you finally finished undergrad.  So begins your entry into the real world.

A few months before I graduated I got an offer from a pretty well known large consulting firm, so I just knew that my life after graduation was going to be great.  I wouldn’t say that was a completely untrue thought, but I would not say that things worked out that well either.   My first few months of working were great.  I got to work with a bunch of really smart people, I was working on my first large scale project.  I liked most of the people that I worked with.  Like I said I thought everything was great.

I soon begin to find that I was changing, and not necessarily for the better.  I began to find myself set in a monotonous routine, I started gaining weight, loosing my sense of style, going through constant mood changes.  All in all I would say that I was beginning to loose my essence (I will talk more about essence in later posts).  After realizing that I did not like the life I was living, I began to read numerous sites about other people my age that were going through similar issues. I also began to read about a lot of people that were carving their own niche in life, rather then following the status quo.  The numerous sites I began reading, combined with my own interesting experiences working as a corporate drone inspired me to write this blog.

Now, you may be wondering why is this called Is It Five O’Clock.  I called the blog Is It Five O Clock, because that is the one recurring thought I have everyday, because at the start of every workday, I am already ready to go home.  One day I plan to live a life where that is not a recurring question.

(I welcome any spelling or grammar corrections.  I am a software developer, I mostly write in languages for machines to understand, Its been a while since my target audience were humans.)
